The Supreme Administrative Court of Thailand has recently ruled that requiring applicants for government service to be ‘single’ is unlawful because marital or single status has no bearing on the fulfillment of the official tasks. That is because both men and women have the freedom to live together to start a family or have children. In addition, there is no law that permits for the establishment of such a requirement.
